New Director: A message from the President of the ACU

APPOINTMENT OF FATHER JORGE ROJAS, S.J. AS THE NEW JESUIT DIRECTOR OF THE AGRUPACIÓN CATÓLICA UNIVERSITARIA

Miami, November 1, 2023. As most are aware, our esteemed Father Director, Christian Saenz, S.J., has been missioned to the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome as a Professor in the History Department. The ACU has been blessed with Father’s leadership for almost five years, including the growth of our formation programs and apostolates. While we will miss Father Saenz and his dedication to the ACU, we wish him Godspeed in his new assignment and will continue to have participate in the ACU as his visits allow.

We are fortunate, and once again blessed, to be able to announce the appointment of a new Director. The Jesuit Province of the Caribbean has nominated, and the ACU Board has endorsed, Father Jorge Rojas, S.J. as the new Director of the Agrupación Católica Universitaria. Father Rojas is an old friend to the ACU having celebrated numerous masses, given Exercises, and has been leading the efforts in Cuba for the canonization of Father Felipe Rey de Castro, S.J. He supported the ACU during his years as Assistant Principal at Belen and in his current mission as Pastor of “Iglesia de Reina” in Havana, Cuba.

We are pleased to welcome Father Rojas to this new mission where we are confident he will find the dedicated support of the Agrupados as he assumes the Directorship, as well as responsibility for the works of the Ignatian Spirituality Center known as Manresa. While it will be difficult to fill Father Saenz’ shoes, we are confident that Father Rojas brings the skills, enthusiasm, and spirituality necessary to continue the growth and expansion of the mission of the ACU.
