While Agrupados have lived in Georgia since the 1960s, the Atlanta group was formerly established in 1978, after three young men completed the Spiritual Exercises with Father Llorente. Over the years, the group attracted a significant group of non-Cuban Hispanics, in particular from Puerto Rico. Throughout its history, the group has had strong ties to local universities, although its current membership is comprised largely of young professionals. The Atlanta group is known for its apostolic work with the diocese's Hispanic ministry, soup kitchens, and the local Jesuit retreat house, as well as for its annual Cuban-style pig roast or lechón.
